Brigids Blessing Elixir Recipe

Intention: This simple elixir is the ‘Sweet Fire’ of Brigid. It anoints and consecrates that which it is placed upon and used for times of initiation, launching or starting a commitment. Can also use in first menses rituals for the emerging Maiden.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp whole milk or a thick substitute like almond or hemp milk
  • 1 tsp warmed honey
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Preparation: Combine all ingredients in a small ceramic or glass ritual bowl to use within 6 hours. While reciting the following:

Brigid, Brigid,
Keeper of the flame.
Imbue this nectar
with the power of your aim.

Because of the milk, this isn’t a recipe that keeps fresh for long. You only need a small amount, but to make the recipe easier, you can certainly double the amounts and drink what remains when done which is a lovely ending to the ritual for yourself. When preparing before the ritual, keep refrigerated until 30 minutes before and for ease of use, you can warm it up in a bain-marie so the honey is softened.

Usage: During the blessing or initiation ritual, dab your finger lightly in the elixir, then press it to the body part you are blessing. If you are doing an initiation ritual without the self blessing, you can anoint the heart space. At the end of the ritual, you can drink what remains of this elixir to imbibe the energy of both Brigid and the commitment made.
