ABOUT THE DARK/ BALSAMIC PHASE

The dark moon is the phase when it’s still displaying a thin silver line, at the verge of becoming invisible in the night sky, known also as the waning crescent. Symbolically, it represents the dying phase of the cycle of life. It begins two nights before the New Moon and ends with this last phase, which is when it has lost all of the illumination. Thus, it prepares us for the rebirth and new beginning that comes after the exact conjunction between the two luminaries.

RETURNING TO THE CAVE

Further, it always begins in the sign of the last Sun sign season and thus, of the last New Moon. It represents the time when we’re heading back to the cave, when we return from our journey through the outside and head towards our inner/underworld. In its growing phase we meet the outer expression of that sign during the lunation. Conversely, when it’s waning, we meet its inner expression, as the Sun is no longer in that sign. Further, it invites us to rest, recharge, release from energetic or body toxins, banish what we want out or cut the cords that attach us to the past. It’s when we enter the Crone phase, commune with the Dark Goddess and meet with our shadow side.

WANING CRESCENT IN LIBRA: CLOSING LAST SEASONS CHAPTER

The topic during this libra season has been about relationships because this is the sign that opposes the sign of “Me”, Aries, ruler of the first house of self. For instance, Libra is the sign of the other, as it’s the ruler of the area of relationships, the seventh house. In addition, it’s ruled by the goddess of love, thus, it’s a venusian sign that focuses on its desire for partnerships, harmony and balance. However, as said in previous posts, relationships may have met with challenges or endings during last season. This was because all of the planets in Libra (The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus), squared Pluto, Saturn and the karmic nodes. This made it more a time for liberation, breaking chains, cutting energetic cords and setting boundaries. This was for the purpose of either improving relationships and healing, as they also opposed Chiron, the wounded healer.

The waning dark moon in this sign when the Sun has already entered Scorpio reflect the end of Libra Season. We´re now closing the chapter, making it ideal to reflect on what surged in your relationships during that time. They doesn’t necessarily need to be romantic, it can be with the one with yourself, your job, your best friend, etc. What did you let go of? What dynamics in your partnerships were calling for a change? Which shadow aspects or triggers surfaced that were a projection of what you have not healed? The New Moon in Libra began a new emotional cycle of six months, thus, this process doesn’t culminate until then. For instance, this dark moon is a potent time for reflection and letting go, so that you meet the blooms of your intentions without something from the past affecting them.

THE MOON IN LIBRA’S ALIGNMENTS

This Moon will now be making the same aspects all of the planets in Libra did last month in as little as two days. This brings us back to the themes that occurred during last season. The Moon will be first making an opposition to Chiron, making it ideal to dedicate for releasing and healing the wounds that resurfaces during this time, as this opposition may bring again hidden wounds of the ego to light. However, the Moon in its waning phase indicates that for that, one needs to look within. Anger and resentment that hasn’t healed may blow up with this Moon as it will then be making a conjunction to Mars. Thus, this reinforces that it’s a perfect time for inner work and healing.

Finally, the Moon will be squaring Saturn, Pluto and the lunar nodes, helping us liberate ourselves from what no longer serves and close finally this chapter to welcome the transformative energies of Scorpio Season.

ACTIVITIES & RITUALS

If during Libra Season a relationship ended, this dark moon is excellent for a cutting cords ritual. It’s also perfect to release anything that may be causing disharmony in your life, your relationships or in your environment. The energy of Libra will help us connect with the element of Air, making it ideal for dispelling negative energies and letting go with the wind what may already be slipping through your fingers. This dark moon will then guide you in the process of liberation.
