ABOUT ECLIPSES

A solar eclipse occurs during a New Moon when the Sun and Moon are forming an exact conjunction and the Moon is directly between Earth and the Sun. Hence, resulting with the Moon temporarily blocking the light of the Sun.

On the other hand, lunar eclipses happen when Earth is between the Sun and the Moon and both are in opposite signs of the zodiac in the exact degree. This results with Earth blocking the sunlight from hitting the Moon’s surface and its shadow refracted unto the Moon, thus producing its red color.

THEIR ASTROLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE

Astrologically speaking, New Moon’s mark the ending and the beginning of a lunar cycle. Full Moon’s marks the peak of the cycle, therefore, when things rise into our conscious awareness and when we see the blooms of the seeds we planted.

However, when these two phases coincide with an eclipse, their energy is magnified by three. They bring fated changes, transformation and endings of things that aren’t aligned with our karmic purpose, thus we become aligned with it.

THE NODES

The Lunar Nodes or “Nodes of fate” are mathematical points where eclipses exactly occur or very closely. Currently, we are in the Cancer (North Node) and Capricorn (South Node) axis. However, we will have a total lunar eclipse in Leo because, even though it’s in another sign, it’s only 4 degrees far from the North Node in Cancer.

LUNAR ECLIPSE + FULL MOON IN LEO

This Blood-Wolf Moon is the culmination of the eclipses of the Leo-Aquarius axis we’ve had since August 2016. Thus, it is a time when we will fully integrate the lessons of the North Node in Leo that ultimately called for shining our light, embracing our inner child and connecting with our wild self. However, although it symbolizes a completion, it will be at zero degrees, representing a new phase where these lessons are integrated.

THE LEO AND AQUARIUS POLARITY

On May 2017, the North and South Node changed to the fixed signs above. Since then, we’ve had eclipses that were asking for the balance between the mental-rational expression (Aquarius) and the one that comes from the heart (Leo).

Aquarius is ruled by Uranus and Saturn, thus, it’s an archetype that’s renowned for its revolutionary and inventive thinking, but also for being detached and ‘cold’ as it’s based more on reason than emotion. In addition, it’s the ruler of the eleventh house, the area that corresponds to the collective consciousness. This makes this sign focused on its visions, ideas and its contribution in society.

Leo is ruled by the biggest star of the zodiac, the Sun. Also, it rules the fifth house, the area that corresponds to fertility, creativity, pleasure, and fun. This makes the Leo archetype be one that’s focused on the creative and passionate expression of self.

Leo energy manifests the ideas of Aquarius

By analyzing their characteristics above, we see that what makes them different is that Leo is focused on its expression and Aquarius on its vision. Leo energy manifests the ideas of Aquarius because though both are creative, one puts the action and the other gives the idea.

THE BALANCE BETWEEN MIND AND HEART

Furthermore, this can be explained considering their elements. Aquarius, rules the brain, intellect & ideas (Air); and Leo, the heart, energy & desires (fire). Therefore, the South Node in this Air sign was calling for balancing the reasonable thinking, for it can lead to going to directions that the heart doesn’t desire. Hence, it wanted for us to tap into our truth and to realign with our passion; to balance our logic with our emotions.

FULL MOON CONJUNCT NORTH NODE IN CANCER

Although they’re in different signs, they’re still making a conjunction at a 4 degree orb. The sign of Cancer is known for the crab that can sometimes hide in its shell. On the other hand, Leo shines brightly always, just like the Sun. Therefore, this infrequent merging talks about letting out the lion or wolf escape of where it has been confined on.

FULL MOON SQUARE URANUS IN ARIES

This out of sign aspect of a 2 degree orb, is what impulses the breaking of this shell. Both are in fiery signs, therefore, this may happen unexpectedly like an explosion. It’s a highly powerful energy that will impulse us to step out of the shadows or comfort zone and let out our true self. Here the feral being within awakes.

EMBRACING THE WILD WOMAN WITHIN

What’s the inner wild woman archetype and why is it important to tap into it? The author of Women who Run with the Wolves says:

“Within every woman there lives a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. She is the Wild Woman, who represents the instinctual nature of women. But she is an endangered species”.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes

We can see that how she describes this archetype reflects the characteristics of Leo energy (creative, passionate) and what the fifth house in our chart represents. Thus, it’s also about connecting with our inner child.

THE BREAKING OF THE SELF IMPOSED LIMITS AND SOCIETY’S POWER OVER US

How we can connect with it it’s by seeing where the South Node was. It was in Aquarius, hence, it has to do with our logical mind and society, what typically suppresses our creative, fun and passionate self. For instance, this is what the shell around us was made of. It’s breaking symbolizes us reclaiming our power and releasing its control over us.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

These lessons concludes with the Lunar Eclipse in Leo. Have you felt too inhibited, unconfident and anxious in expressing your true self? It’s now time to shine brightly, do what makes your soul dance and step out of the shadows. Confidence and sense of self worth is key for this, so it’s time to claim it back. No more hiding your essence, vitality and your true self because of fear. Disconnect from your weakness and connect with your power. Your core essence is your inner child or wild woman, let it escape. It’s the moment to leave your mark in the world.

Aquarius Season just began and it will be all about your reinvention and connecting with others. With the balance of Leo energy fully recharged, it calls for you to do what you’re passionate about and honor your heart’s desires.

ENERGETIC INFLUENCE

Although this Full Moon has a positive significance, its energy can be quite dramatic. Full Moon’s always heightens emotions and with this event, energies can go mad. Here the lunatics are out, so be aware. In addition, it’s also a very unpredictable because it will be making a square to Uranus. This makes it only a time for reflection and to detox from negative energies.

THE NORTH NODE IN LEO & FULL MOON TRANSITS BASED ON YOUR ASCENDANT

The last eclipse in Capricorn and the Full Moon in Cancer all brought the ending and beginning of a chapter and although this may seem redundant, it’s important to remember that this is all happening in different areas of your life. Where the full moon is transiting indicates what area is meeting this culmination and a new phase.

  • Virgo: In the twelfth house, the area of the unconscious, dreams, loss and karma.
